Symposia Information
The MMM 2012 Programme Committee is working hard to finalize the best possible programme for MMM 2012. Following the successful format of MMM 2010 in Freiburg, we will begin each day with a Plenary Session with two distinguished speakers. The Plenary Speakers will be listed here as soon as they are all confirmed.
The central part of MMM 2012 is, of course, the technical symposia:
- A: Microstructure Evolution across Multiple Length Scales: Defects to Material Properties
Organizers: Fei GAO, Matthias POSSELT, Chung-Ho WOO, Peter D. HODGSON, Rajeev AHLUWALIA, Jerry QUEK, Lukasz MADEJ
- B: Materials under Extreme Conditions
Organizers: Jim BELAK, Timothy GERMANN, Neil BOURNE, Justin WARK, Robert AVERBACK
- C: Complexity in Scale Transitions: From Microscopic Discreteness to the Macroscopic Continuum
Organizers: Karin DAHMEN, Markus HÜTTER, Jan KRATOCHVIL, Craig MALONEY, M-Carmen MIGUEL
- D: Mathematical Aspects of Multiscale Modeling and Simulation
Organizers: Carlos GARCIA-CERVERA, Yang XIANG, Jerry Zhijian YANG
- E: Thermodynamic Concepts in Materials and Process Design
Organizers: Ingo STEINBACH, Jörg NEUGEBAUER, Zi-Kui LIU, Byeong-Joo LEE
- F: Challenges in Multiscale Modeling of Biological and Soft Materials
Organizers: Siewert-Jan MARRINK, Christine PETER, Bernd ENSING, Peter TIELEMAN
- G: Multiscale Modeling of Crystal Plasticity: From Discrete Models to Generalized Continua
Organizers: M. ZAISER, D. WEYGAND, A.H.W. NGAN, Wei CAI
- H: Multiscale Modeling of Optically Responsive Materials
Organizers: Ruth PACHTER, Lasse JENSEN, Daniel NUEHAUSER, Swapan PATI, Angel RUBIO
One of the beauties of a multinational, multidisciplinary workshop is the chance to interact with colleagues with whom you are already familiar, meet those whose papers you have read, and to meet new colleagues. We are planning a programme with a banquet and excursion to promote these types of interactions, but also leaving ample free time in the evenings to explore Singapore with your new and old friends.
