Scope of Symposium

This symposium provides a platform for academics, scientists, technologists and industrial players to present innovation ideas, exchange views, and share research outcomes in the field of optical communications.  Specifically, the symposium focuses on optical devices and subsystems, optical fiber transmission systems, and optical network architectures.  Papers presenting original work in, but not limited to, the following technical topics are invited:

Optical Components and Modules: Optical fiber devices, optical modulators and switches, semiconductor optical amplifiers, semiconductor lasers and detectors, optical MEMS, photonic integrated circuits/modules, VCSELs.

Photonic Switching and Network Elements:  Photonic switching systems, optical cross-connects and add-drop multiplexers, optical IP routers, photonic packet switching,  monitoring techniques, optical signal processing, wavelength conversion, optical interfaces and terminals, optical interconnections.

Optical Transmission: WDM transmission systems, transmission subsystems, transmission impairments mitigation, advanced modulation formats, ultrahigh bit-rate transmission systems, nonlinear systems, optical regeneration, coherent communication systems.

Microwave Photonics: Microwave and millimeter‐wave optical signal generation, optical analogue to digital conversion, signal processing techniques for optical spectra synthesis, optical control of array antennas, radio-over-fiber systems, photonic technologies for wireless communications including MIMO and UWB systems.

Optical Networking: Network planning, design and modelling, access/metro networks, IP over WDM networks, protection/restoration, GMPLS, QoS issues, routing and wavelength assignment, multiple access techniques, fairness control in optical LANs and MANs, traffic grooming, optical multicasting.
