Scope of Symposium

Optically resonant nanostructures are promising for multiple photonic technologies including biosensing, bioimaging, light on chip integration, information recording etc. This symposium will target all aspects of optically resonant nanostructures including plasmonics, nanoantennas and metamaterials/metasurfaces. The special attention will be given to the new topic of resonant dielectric nanostructures. Similar to metals, they can have strong resonant behaviour of both electric and magnetic nature at optical frequencies. However, in contrast to metals, dielectric nanostructures do not rely on real electron currents and can thus be completely loss-free. Topics will include but not limited to:
- Resonant dielectric and semiconductor nanostructures, nanoantennas and metasurfaces
- Plasmonic nanostructures and nanoantennas
- Active plasmonics and nanophotonics, nanolasers and spasers
