Scope of Symposium

Nanotechnology in solar energy devices is a highly interdisciplinary and fast-growing field. Application of nanostructures in solar energy conversion requires methods for reproducible growth, convenient assembly and integration, as well as physical property characterization tool with nanoscale resolution. This symposium will call for researchers with background in materials, optics and electronic, electrochemistry to exchange latest findings and discuss future trends in the application of nanostructures in various solar energy conversion technologies. Our emphasis will be non-carbon materials but hybridization with carbon is also welcome.

The topics include,

  • Growth strategies of nanomaterials for solar energy
  • Nanomaterials in dye-sensitized solar cells, quantum dot-sensitized solar cells, hybrid PV
  • Photoelectrochemical cells and photocatalyst water splitting
  • Nanostructures for light absorption enhancement
  • Band structure engineering (alloying and doping)
  • Charge transfer and transport
  • Measurement reliability
  • Emergent technologies in nanostructure solar devices (e.g., plasmonics, upconversion, multiple exciton generation)
